Triple Lucky 8's Slots

The name may be a bit confusing, but the game is not. Despite the word triple suggesting this is a three-reel slot, it is not. This mash-up between a fruit and Chinese theme has five reels and ten pay lines, so it is set up like a modern-day online slot. The bad news is that the theme is based on those traditional slots, so the theme might look a little boring from the outside, but there are some secrets hiding just below the surface. If this sounds intriguing to you, Triple Lucky Eights may have been designed with you in mind.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

You can tell that the background aesthetics aren’t the primary goal of this game. The board is placed on a background large enough to see a significant portion of it, yet they decided that a red background with linear designs would be the best use of that space. The lack of any sort of theme or animation behind the board almost makes having a background a moot point. Thankfully, they put a little more effort into the symbols.

The symbols in this game are intriguing because the theme isn’t fun, but they put significant effort into the artwork. It uses mostly traditional fruit symbols with a few added fruits and some special feature symbols, but what’s more important is the definition of these symbols, which are given borders to almost make them look 3D. The way these cherries, oranges, lemons, watermelons, and plums pop off the screen is a treat to the eyes.

The art style is great, but the one place this game is really coming in hot is the music. The music is a driving club-inspired beat that makes you want to dance. It has incredible drums and hi-hats that chop up the continuous beat to alleviate some of that repetitiveness you hear from other slot songs. The sound effects also add to the ambiance with the spinning sound of a traditional slot. This game uses sound effects pretty sparingly, but they are still there to communicate things like the potential for winning lines and whenever you land the triple eights symbol.

Disappointing Features

Unfortunatley, the developers of this game apparently put all their artistic energy into the look because the bonus features field is relatively barren. When one of your bonus features is just a high-paying symbol, you are not in a good place, and that is the case here. If you manage to hit five Chinese coin symbols, you get twenty times your stake, and if you hit five gold ingots, you can see fifty times your stake.

What is usually the most insignificant bonus feature in other games is the only true bonus feature this game has. The game’s logo, which is three eights on fire, also represents the wild symbol and can replace any other symbol in the game. In addition, the wild has its own value and can be worth a lot if you manage to hit five in the same line. Every time you manage to land three wilds anywhere on the board, you are automatically awarded a free respin. This respin can be re-triggered up to five times after the initial free spin, so it’s almost like the wild pulls double duty as a wild and a watered-down scatter symbol.

You Get What You Get

This game doesn’t come in heavy with the features, but it is at least nice to look at. It is pretty unapologetic about how simple it is, and there’s something admirable about that. This game probably has a niche group of followers that just want to vibe to the music without having all the complicated parts of an online slot, so it is perfect for that. If you are looking for a wild slot with a lot of animation and some out-of-this-world bonus features, this isn’t going to be the one for you, but if you are looking for a more laid-back game to enjoy some downtime, Triple Lucky 8’s may be the game for you.
